The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is a standard architecture to deliver IP multimedia services, including voice calls using mobile data. Previous mobile technologies used the Circuit-Switch networks to provide voice call, and since the 4G technology, the voice calls need to be provided by an IP Packet-Switched network.
In order to ensure the mobility and call continuity between different Radio Access Technologies, the SRVCC (Single Radio Voice Call Continuity) and the eSRVCC (enhanced SRVCC) provide a seamless access of VoLTE services to continue a voice call even in 3G or 2G technologies, replacing the Circuit Switch Fallback (CSFB), process that automatically move a subscriber to a legacy circuit-switched network when a voice service is required, used in network with no IMS implemented.
